The BA (Hons) Architecture course provides students with a strong foundation in design, technology, theory and professionalism in the practice of architecture. The course aims are structured to ensure that our graduates are individuals ready for the world of practice, as future-changemakers within this dynamic profession.
This course combines a range of experimentation and testing, equipping students with the tools to investigate, think critically and make reasoned decisions related to design and built environment challenges. A key component of the course is to design buildings and spaces that improve the lives of those involved in the process, its users and wider society, creating resilient and equitable spaces for all that endure. We intend to push the boundaries of knowledge in architectural research, technology, practice, and the generation of ideas.
Individuals will have the opportunity to test their ideas in a rang oe urban contexts, demonstrating a breadth of knowledge, representational and communication skills. Project briefs support collaborative and interdisciplinary environments, inviting problem-solving and critical perspectives. Design is underpinned by an appreciation of local environments and the potential of technology, professional and ethical practice, health and life safety and the histories and theories of architecture. This knowledge is demonstrated holistically across all modules on the course with briefs becoming more complex as the level changes. This degree offers a pathway to architectural registration in the UK, and a positive step toward ensuring that our cities, buildings and spaces are safe, inclusive and positively social.
