Mert Akgul is an architecture student based in London. His work focuses on public and cultural spaces, especially farmer’s markets, community spaces and music venues.
He is interested in how architecture can bring people together and respond to real urban conditions. His recent Final Major Project explores the railway edge in Kentish Town, using a farmer’s market, public route and live music venue to create a shared civic space.
Akgul’s design approach often starts with movement, site problems and everyday public life. He is interested in material, sound and atmosphere, and how these can shape places where people meet, stay and take part in the city.
