Sean Baines

Sean Baines is a London based filmmaker and photographer who explores a range of themes such as grief, time, control and identity through their often abstract work. Their recent project “Permission Denied” takes influence from a range of artworks such as “The Holy Mountain”, “Twin Peaks”, Qualeasha Wood’s works, “Black Mirror”, “A clockwork Orange” and makes use of experimental editing and cinematography to demonstrate a gradual build in surrealism, creating discomfort in viewers, enabling them to empathise more with the protagonists confusion and discomfort. The short film looks into the ethics of a world not far from our own, where governments use computer chips to control peoples minds, stopping them from committing immoral or illegal acts.
