Julian Elias

Julian Elias is a product designer interested in creating unique products that balance function with emotion. His work is driven by a strong interest in colour, fabrication, and material exploration, with a focus on objects that bring personality and individuality into everyday spaces.

He is drawn to bold and eccentric design, particularly within furniture, homeware, and interior products. Rather than designing objects that blend into the background, Elias aims to create pieces that feel distinctive, expressive, and memorable. He explores how materials, finishes, colour, and structure can influence the way a product is experienced, both visually and physically. His design process combines research, hands-on making, CAD development, rendering, and prototyping. He is especially interested in how fabrication methods can shape the final identity of a product.

Designed in response to design convergence towards boring, minimal products, the Chromatica Shelving System allows customers to inject a pop of color into their living space. Made from a powder-coated steel box section, folded steel sheet, and color-laminated glass, this modular system can be configured and custom-ordered directly to the consumer.

The Chromatica Configurator allows customers to create their own bespoke shelf. Starting with a base unit, additional modules can be stacked on top. By using the drag-and-drop functionality, customers can define the color of the frame as well as the glass panels or utilize the randomize button to help them create a colorway.
