Crimson Peak Silk Painting
Crimson Peak Silk PaintingCreated during a workshop at the Fashion and Textile museum, a silk panting of one of Elizabeth's favourite feature films Crimson Peak directed by Guillermo del Toro with her favourite costume designer now turned Oscar Winner Kate Hawley. This piece interprets the films predator and prey motif conveyed through the costume design and colour scheme. Portraying the main character, Edith as a butterfly in yellow and black compared to the sharp siblings in the red and black who feed upon the dying butterflies in the winter. The predominant colours here being the yellow and black with splashes of grey, a butterfly quite literally covering Edith's eyes as she is blinded by her devotion t the Sharp siblings as subtle leaks of red foreshadow the eventual blood shed at the Sharps home Crimson peak.
