Mia Tru Wallace-Auguste
Mia Tru Wallace-Auguste is a multidisciplinary creative who specialises in Fashion Styling, Still Life, and Artistic Direction. As a practitioner, her work explores her passions for art, film, and history, particularly Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cruella, and 80s Ballroom culture, all of which focus on movements that have shaped or heavily influenced today’s collective culture.
Wallace-Auguste's experimental approach, combined with confident problem-solving abilities, can be attributed to her neurodivergence, which has led her to find alternative ways of working to navigate her way of thinking. Born and raised in South East London, enriched by its melting pot of cultures and diversity, this environment, alongside her Caribbean roots and upbringing, has played a tremendous role in shaping her ethical and moral messaging and moves with her in everything she creates and is part of.
Growing up, Wallace-Auguste would play The Sims 4, creating characters with varying backstories, personalities, and character arcs and styling them accordingly, which has inspired much of her visual storytelling through clothing, accessories, and objects. In her eyes, everything has meaning and a story to tell.
