Sophie Cones

Sophie Cones is an aspiring graphic designer and illustrator who is finalising her Foundation Diploma and commencing Graphic Design and Communication at Cardiff Metropolitan University this September.

Cones’ work explores historical narratives, often focusing on Ancient Greek art and architecture. Their practice primarily spans Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, and analogue drawing. Cones’ work is influenced by their surroundings and interests further developed through their A-levels. They were particularly inspired by exhibitions at the Design Museum, including the Blitz Exhibition and the Wes Anderson exhibition.

Cones’ Final Major Project is centred around the repatriation of artefacts in the British Museum that were taken from Greece. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the “stolen” objects and items that were removed through the exploitation of a loophole. Their work emphasises these stolen artefacts through graphic posters and design.
