Florence Joy

Florence Joy is a London-based fashion designer focused mainly on womenswear and is incredibly passionate about sustainability. Despite not progressing onto a fashion-based degree course, while studying “Environment and Sustainable Development with Economics” at London School of Economics and Political Science, she will continue to express her love for fashion through personal projects from a sustainable standpoint.

Joy has a great interest in fashion research, finding joy in studying looks of the past and the societal and cultural influences that shaped them. She has skills in pattern cutting, crocheting and garment construction. As well as being receptive, resourceful and incredibly dedicated to any project she embarks upon. Joy also has a natural eye for fashion communication, considering the audience when styling, casting, photographing and organising shoot locations.

Joy’s Final Major Project, “I’m British but…”, explores her mixed heritage, specifically focusing on connecting with her Jamaican roots. Her final look combines Sunday-best dressing and timeless European tailoring, with both British and Jamaican references.
